When two young high-school children, Niamh (Sinéad Walsh) and Jayden (Maeron Libomi), attend the ‘Irish Great Hunger Museum’ at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, they find themselves in an area of the museum closed off to other visitors. There they meet the mysterious and somewhat strange curator of the museum (Karen Ardiff), who takes them on a quest to explore the devastation of the Irish Famine. Niamh and Jayden find themselves transported back in time, where they meet Patrick (Adam Dolan) and his family, and witness the true horrors of the Great Hunger first hand.

The Hunger Times is a short children’s drama produced by Tile Media as a companion piece to the ‘Irish Great Hunger Museum’s’ Coming Home: Art and the Great Hunger exhibition. This fantastic collection of famine related artwork will tour Ireland for much of 2018 & 2019, and is currently housed at the Chester Beatty Library’s Coach House.

Rabbit Punch tells the story of Job, a 14 year old refugee in search of a new life. Brutalised at home and bullied in school, his only answer is to lash out at the world around him. Job is desperate to escape the harsh reality of his life, where physical abuse and tenderness go hand in hand.  

When he finds himself in a head-to-head race with a van through the streets of Moss Side, ending at the local boxing club, his life takes an unexpected turn for the better. Coaches Trav and Dylan are intrigued by this lightening fast boy who seems to appears and disappear without a trace.

Fleeing his violent father, Job goes to the only sanctuary he knows and breaks into the boxing club.  He is discovered by Trav who takes him under wing, noticing this baby-faced newcomer can pack a punch. He has found a new home.

'Fingal's Finest' is the extraordinary, and little-known, story of the 5th 'Fingal' Battalion, Dublin Brigade of Irish Volunteers and their actions during the 1916 Easter Rising. While the rebels in Dublin City fought from behind the barricades, the Fingal Volunteers, led by Thomas Ashe, took the fight to their enemy.

By attacking R.I.C. barracks, rail networks and communications centres in North County Dublin and Meath, the 5th Battalion did their best to disrupt the crown forces who were flooding into Dublin City to suppress the insurrection. Their actions culminated in the only successful engagement for the rebels during the Rising, when they defeated a much larger force of Royal Irish Constabulary at the Battle of Ashbourne.

This feature length drama documentary, which was produced with support from Fingal County Council, will screen  at select cinemas and community venues throughout Ireland, the U.K. and America in 2017.

'A Terrible Beauty' offers a fresh approach to the story of the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin. Using first-hand accounts to drive the narrative, it tells the little-known stories of the ordinary people involved in the Rising; Irish Volunteers, British soldiers and the innocent civilians caught in the middle. It focuses on the two most ferocious battles that took place during that Easter week, the battles of Mount Street and North King Street, culminating in the massacre of fifteen innocent young men and boys.

By mixing archive footage with dramatic reconstructions and first-hand accounts it takes the viewer on a journey to the very heart of the conflict, giving them an up close and personal view of the often brutal and bloody fight which affected the lives of the men and women caught up in the chaos.

'Stories from 1916' is an online portal for the collection and presentation of stories of the participants and living relatives of all those involved in the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland.

There are vast numbers of little-known individual accounts of the ordinary men and women who played their part during Easter Week 1916, and a wealth of previously   unseen archive material held by their living descendants.

By engaging with relatives and presenting photographs, video, audio and text we will chronicle and preserve vital stories as a resource for all.

Tommy O'Connor was the IRB's Trans-Atlantic courier during Ireland's revolutionary period. In the lead up to the 1916 Rising, and throughout the subsequent War of Independence, Tommy carried vast sums of money raised in America back to Ireland to fund the revolutionary war and many coded messages between the Irish leadership on either side of the Atlantic. During the Rising , Tommy and his brother Johnny fought under the command of Ned Daly in the Four Courts area of Dublin. This is his story, told by his relatives.

The title, "A Courier's Tale", is taken from the book "A Courier's Tale, a biography of Thomas D O'Connor," by his grandson, Tommy Vogt.

Artefacts of war of often have unusual stories to tell, if only they could speak. The more often these artefacts, be it maps or weapons, change and cross hands, the deeper the story runs. With a little research and a lot of luck, objects as dull as furniture can provide an immediate tangible link to our shared past. 

Chris Shouldice, son of Irish Volunteer Jack who fought in Reilly's Fort during the 1916 Rising, tells the story of how his father ended up acquiring the Captain's table from the HMY Helga which shelled Dublin during Easter Week 1916.

Among the many well-known tales surrounding the tragedy of the RMS Titanic, there is one that has been mostly forgotten; the untold story of the selflessness, dignity and sacrifice of the ship's engineers,stokers and firemen in the face of impending death.

Their personal stories of bravery are recounted as the men fought courageously to hold back the sea and keep the power systems running, even when they learned that all was lost. Most of these men died but their actions saved many lives.

‘Saving the Titanic’ tells the story of the disaster from below deck, with the action taking place between the time the crew embark the Titanic at Southampton and the eventual sinking of the ship in the Atlantic.

'An Long Caillte'/ The Lost Ship is a Irish language docudrama rooted in both history and science.

The story follows a team of underwater archaeologists and scientists for three years as they explore the hull of an ancient shipwreck off the coast of Donegal. As the contents of the wrecked vessel are unearthed and preserved, the viewer is taken on a journey into the past while the team try and decipher the mystery of where this lost ship came from.

A follow up to 'The Ghosts of Duffy's Cut', this is an epic 9 year detective story involving foul play, cover ups, a 180 year old murder mystery and a voyage of discovery for the Watson Brothers and their project team. This is a scientific and historical docudrama that sets out to solve the mystery of what happened in a remote Pennsylvania valley known as Duffy’s Cut.

'Death on the Railroad' is part of the Secrets of the Dead strand broadcast across the PBS network in America. 

In the aftermath of World War 2, the unsuspecting Irish public gave safe haven to some of the Nazi regime's collaborators and war criminals. Protected by church and state, many made their homes in Ireland or used it as a staging point for escape to America.

The late veteran broadcaster Cathal O'Shannon had a personal interest in this story. As a 16 year old he joined the RAF, near the end of World War II, to fight the Axis powers. After the war had ended, Cathal found that the Irish state seemed to give a greater welcome to former Nazis and their collaborators than they did to returning war veterans.

In this two part series, he sets out on a journey across three continents to uncover the true story of Ireland's Nazis.

Presented by Irish-American actor Brian Mallon, this two part docudrama tells the dramatic story of one of the greatest units in the American Civil War; the "Fighting Irish" of the 69th Infantry Regiment.

At the centre of the Irish Brigade’s story is its founder, the controversial and charismatic, General Thomas Francis Meagher. Meagher, or “Meagher of the Sword” as he was known, is one of the most famous Irishmen in Civil War era America. He also created the Irish Tricolour that would fly above the GPO, over half a century later, during the 1916 Easter Rising.

Set in 1847, the darkest year of the Great Famine in Ireland, 'Death or Canada' is a tragic tale of epic proportions. It follows the true life story of John and Mary Willis who, with their five children, abandoned their home in the West of Ireland and gambled everything on finding new lives in North America. 

Their journey was part of the worst humanitarian disaster of the 19th century. Over 20,000 people died on board the coffin ships that summer, while approximately 1 million people died during the famine years in Ireland.

Canada was inundated with more weak and sick immigrants than it could handle. Toronto alone took in 40,000 Irish, bringing chaos, fever and death to the city’s streets.
 

On February 15th 2013, a huge meteor streaked across the skies of Chelyabinsk, Russia at a speed of 18km per second. Fragments of rock broke off and exploded with deadly effect, shattering the windows of thousands of buildings and injuring hundreds of people. Witnesses described how they were transfixed by an unearthly light and a terror that ‘felt like the end of the world’. Afterwards, there was an upsurge in religious practice, as the city’s residents crowded into churches.
